Below is the benchmark results of 3 hard drive systems we tested in house.
benchmarks taken by Bonnie+++ software, because this servers is varied in RAID setup and OS versions, you can use this results to feel the difference between systems and not as scientific comparison.
System1 is using 2 x 250GB SATA II drives in RAID-1, System2 is using 2 x 300 GB SAS drives in RAID-1 and system3 is using 4 x 64 SSD drives in RAID-5.
table below shows the speed of the 3 systems during the test, the numbers in orange cells BIGGER is BETTER.

the SSD system is 500% faster than the other 2 systems in Writing, 350% faster in re-writing, 700% faster in reading and 1000% times faster in file seeking.
to be honest, its hard to tell in the busy shared hosting server, what the actual improvement in server speed, but the sure thing, there will be no longer a disk I/O bottleneck in such server!

2 months ago, we tried the new 24-core servers (and have been silently selling hosting accounts on them), although the performance was exceptional but there were some bottleneck.
on a server that hosts hundreds of websites and a lot of services (Apache, MySQL, mail, loggers, spam tools, backup,..etc) there are 3 things that affect performance:
by time we could avoid troubles with the first two factors (or bottlenecks), CPU power and RAM .. simply .. we got more RAM, got modern CPUs and we are done .. it’s more of a financial issue than technical to get expensive hardware and be able to re-sell it with a good margin.
only disk drives I/O was the real challenge, Imagine the mechanically-functional hard drive trying to deliver files to users, write DB entries, compress files for backup, all at the same time on a non-stop basis for months! the only thing we can do is to spread the I/O load over the day, like running backup at night and not running I/O consuming processes simultaneously .. like backup and stats builders… but still, there is a limit or I/O will slow down the server performance no matter whatever amount of RAM and CPU is used.
and finally, today we are trying the same 24-CORE servers with Solid State hard drives! (namely Intel X25-E SLC drives), if you googled ‘Solid states benchmarks’ you will find amazing results, if you really do not want to read a lot of geeky details, check this short video on youtbue.
anyways, I hope we can post our benchmarks here before the end of the week and I’m sure that last bottleneck will be eliminated soon :)

Although cPanel is powerful management tool but their documentation is next to nothing! .. today a customer asked me if there is any way to access webmail using port 80 (Port 80 is the default HTTP port and used to access any web page) instead of port 2095 which is blocked in his office by LAN firewall.
I remember there was no easy way to do that, but I thought I may check cpanel docs for update, I found this useless page in how to access webmail in cpanel, .. useless right?
I made another round with google and surprised to found that you can access webmail now using port 80 simply using http://webmail.yourdomain.com
This is really great option, we get no less 5 tickets a day about users can’t access webmail because of port 2095 was blocked, needless to say, cpanel.domain.com is available to access cpanel and whm.domain.com for WHM.

Not a fancy website, but this what enom.com offers!
Like you know, 2MHost.com register the main domain only of the hosting account, so we let our clients go to shopping elsewhere to register their addon or parked domains.. which I admit, a silly thing.
So we have made this website 2MDomains.comin help of enom PDQ program to let our users register their additional domain names for $9.95/year, frankly, we do not make any money out of this website, we just try to offer an additional service to our clients.
as secondady benifit of 2MDomains.com, our customers now will be able to register more than 40 new TLDs that we do not offer at 2MHost.com, like .tv and .mobi and some country domains like .in and .jp.
