Finally, your website is deflated!
Posted by admin under: announcements .
Today we have completed Apache (http server) upgrade in ALL web servers with the new PHP 5.2.6 and mod_deflate, the update will affect all websites hosted by 2mhost.
So what does that mean?
mod_deflate allows output (web pages, HTML, PHP,..etc) from your website to be compressed before being sent to your website vistior browser over the Internet, in short words, this will boost your website browsing speed because your web page size will be much smaller before it is sent to the browser.
Here are 2 examples of mod_deflate effect:
1. 2mhost.com:
Original size (before deflate): 17,722 bytes
Deflated size: 4,279 bytes
Compression rate: 75%
so if the visitor takes 3 seconds to download the homepage of 2mhost before deflate, it will take only 1 second to download the website now .
Let we check some bigger pages,
2. www.interior-deluxe.com:
Original size (before deflate): 44,249 bytes
Deflated size: 7,558 bytes
Compression rate: 82.9%
The deflate effect is noticeable too if your website uses some heavy Javascript frameworks like jquery or mootools, so right now you can go ahead and put your web2.0 style website and do not worry about web page download time anymore :)
